The Devon Cricket League needs to change parts of its Constitution, Playing Rules and Playing Regulations to align with the new All Through League Structure which will apply from the 2018 season. It is also the opinion of a number of Club Captains that some modernisation is required.
At meetings with the Chairmen of member clubs, the new draft proposals were discussed. Since then, Captains and senior players have had time to consider these drafts and feedback has been supplied to Ray Allen (Acting Chairman of the PRRMC), who has re-drafted the documents. These have now been sent out so that they can be discussed further at the Divisional Meetings on 4 and 6 October. The aim of the Tolchards (www.tolchards.com) Devon Cricket League is to provide competitive cricket in a league format that meets the aspirations of all the players across the county. Currently the membership comprises 67 clubs represented by 150 teams and is arranged in separate 1st and 2nd XI league structures. From the 2018 season the structure of the Tolchards Devon Cricket League will change to an "all through" league with the C Division & below being regionalised into East & West Divisions.
The Devon Cricket League also runs county-wide Cup competitions. These are now organised into the T/20 format
The Devon Cricket League has an ECB County 100 Premier League status and works alongside the Devon Cricket Board (www.devoncricket.co.uk) on whose website other news and articles of interest may be viewed.
